We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Manager of Email & SMS Marketing to lead marketing across email, SMS, and retention channels for a DTC health and wellness brand. This role owns the strategy, execution, and optimization of customer communications designed to maximize LTV, subscription retention, repeat purchase behavior, and customer engagement.
Reporting into the Director of Growth, the candidate is equally comfortable building strategy and executing campaigns, analyzing performance, and improving operational excellence.
This role manages one internal direct report, external agencies and partners closely with the rest of the DTC team, Creative, CX, Data, and other ecommerce teams.
What You’ll be Doing
Campaign Management & Execution
Own the lifecycle campaign calendar and communication cadence across email and SMS
Lead campaign strategy, briefing, QA, deployment, and post-campaign analysis
Execute hands-on within ESP/SMS platforms as needed
Partner with Creative and Brand teams to develop compelling, conversion-focused messaging
Own email/SMS deliverability health and list hygiene best practices
Ensure compliance with privacy, consent, and messaging regulations
Improve CRM operational workflows and campaign execution processes
CRM & Lifecycle Strategy
Own the end-to-end retention marketing strategy across email, SMS, and customer lifecycle channels
Develop segmentation, personalization, and automation strategies to improve LTV, repeat rate, subscription retention, and customer engagement
Build and optimize customer journeys across acquisition, onboarding, replenishment, winback, upsell/cross-sell, and loyalty
Identify opportunities to improve retention metrics, reduce churn, and increase subscription performance
Manage process and technology improvements for immediate team (Email/SMS)
Testing, Analytics & Optimization
Develop and manage a testing roadmap across subject lines, offers, segmentation, send timing, creative, and customer journeys
Analyze campaign and retention performance to uncover actionable insights
Monitor KPIs including engagement, deliverability, and subscription health
Deliver regular reporting and strategic recommendations to leadership
Direct Mail (Optional / Preferred)
Explore and manage direct mail initiatives targeted at existing customers, including subscription retention, reactivation, and VIP/LTV campaigns
What We're Looking For:
5–8+ years of experience in CRM, retention, lifecycle, email marketing, or customer marketing within a DTC ecommerce business
2+ years of direct ownership of email and SMS channels with demonstrated revenue impact
Deep hands-on experience with leading ESP and SMS platforms such as Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Iterable, Braze, or similar technologies
Experience managing subscription or replenishment-based businesses, ideally in health, wellness, supplements, beauty, or consumer packaged goods
Experience owning lifecycle strategy across key customer journeys, including welcome, onboarding, replenishment, upsell, cross-sell, winback, and loyalty
Experience managing a marketing calendar and coordinating cross-functional campaign execution
