The Role: We’re looking for an AP Staff Accountant to join our growing Finance team and support the day-to-day financial operations that keep COCOLAB running smoothly. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process while also supporting general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close. You’ll work closely with our Controller and cross-functional partners across Operations, People, and Commercial teams to ensure accurate financial records, timely vendor payments, and clean, audit-ready books. This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership, ideal for someone who enjoys detail-driven work, process improvement, and contributing to a fast-growing, mission-driven company.
What Success Looks Like:
- Vendor payments and employee reimbursements processed accurately, on time, and with minimal follow-up.
- Clean, well-organized financial records that support smooth month-end and year-end closes.
- Strong reconciliations and documentation that stand up to audit review.
- Efficient, scalable AP and accounting workflows that improve as the business grows.
- Trusted partnership across Finance, Operations, and People teams.
What You’ll Do
Accounts Payable & Expense Management:
- Own the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoice processing, approvals, and vendor payments.
- Monitor and manage the accounting inbox, responding to vendor and internal requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve payment issues.
- Process and review employee expense reports using Airbase, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Support annual 1099 preparation and reporting.
General Ledger & Month-End Close:
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset tracking.
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in monthly financial statement review, including P&L, balance sheet, and general ledger detail.
Audit, Systems & Process Improvement:
- Support annual audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Assist with accounting system enhancements and implementation efforts to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Continuously identify opportunities to strengthen workflows, internal controls, and documentation as the business scales.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong experience with accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and month-end close.
- Hands-on experience using NetSuite, Airbase and/or BILL, and Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote-first, fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for improving processes.
