Rowan is looking for a Director of Construction and Facilities will be responsible for leading the strategy, planning, and execution for the new store expansion. Reporting directly to the VP of Studio Operations and Expansion , you will be responsible for This role will be responsible for directing a team of Construction PM’s, providing coaching and support to elevate performance and ensure quality project execution. This Director of Construction will also play a critical role in leading the capital planning and coordination of cross-functional and external partners to deliver the development plan.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for the timely and quality execution of all new store openings
- Lead a team of Construction Project Managers (CPM’s), providing coaching, development, and support to elevate team and individual performance
- Oversee Facilities team and maintenance of existing storesManage overall team workload and direct project assignments for CPM’s and General Contractors
- Partner with Real Estate to review potential retail locations and provide budget input in preparation for Real Estate Committee approval
- Overall cost management, including the development of detailed cost estimates for approved retail locations, accurate budget tracking for active projects, and timely closeout for completed projects
- Owns the Workletter and Lease review process as it relates to Construction; communicate with legal counsel and Landlords as needed
- Responsible for communication with LL's construction representatives during deal making process as well as TC's while in project
- Collaborate with Store Design leadership to ensure a continuous feedback loop to review and discuss development processes and performance
- Works cross-functionally to implement and align strategies for the Store Delivery Process, ensuring team requirements and standards are incorporated into the project plan
- Oversee and manage relationships for all current or potential General Contractors and Owner vendors, providing feedback on performance and alignment for rollout strategies
- Stay current on trends in the construction industry to help identify risks and opportunities to expansion plans
- Review status of the entire development pipeline from deal approval through store opening and close-out, communicating any risks or opportunities to leadership
- Partner with Store Design, Procurement, and Visual Merchandising to provide input and execution plan for any new or proposed store elements
- Frequent Travel Required
Experience we’re looking for:
- 8-12 years of experience leading a team in the retail industry
- Strong understanding of the construction industry, specifically in retail, and store development processes, procedures and best practices
- Experience leading a team of CPM’s, with a clear ability to provide coaching and mentorship
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to handle a pressure environment and continue to perform at a high level
- Develop relationships with internal and external partners
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in various stages of development
- Experience working with Project Management Software (ex. Procore, PlanGrid, etc.)
- Retail experience preferred
