The Role
Nécessaire is seeking a Head of Digital Design who brings a keen eye for design, a strategic mind, and a deep understanding of digital ecosystems. In this role, you’ll lead the visual development and execution of digital-first creative across a wide range of performance and brand channels—including paid social, email, influencer content, and e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Sephora. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping how our brand shows up in a digital world, creating work that is compelling, on-brand, and conversion-minded.

This role reports directly to the Creative Director and will work closely with creative leads across brand, content production, and physical/visual merchandising. You’ll also collaborate regularly with commercial partners across digital (growth, CRM, e-commerce) and wholesale (Sephora, Amazon) to bring integrated campaigns and brand moments to life across all consumer touchpoints. Cross-functional communication and a team-first spirit are essential—you’ll be a bridge between creative excellence and business results.
- WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead Digital Creative Strategy
- Set the creative vision for digital initiatives across paid, owned, and earned channels—including DTC, Amazon, and Sephora.
- Translate marketing briefs and brand strategy into high-impact digital concepts that meet business goals and reflect brand values.
- Apply a deep understanding of platform behaviors, creative performance trends, and cultural context to shape compelling, channel-appropriate ideas.
- Advocate for a performance-minded, consumer-first approach across all workstreams—bringing both creativity and strategic insight to the table.
Drive Creative Execution Across Channels
- Own the visual development of digital campaigns across:
- E-commerce: Product and brand content for the owned site, Amazon, and Sephora
- Paid media: Static and motion creative for paid social (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest), paid search (Google), programmatic, and affiliates
- Email: Campaign and lifecycle creative, including flows and promotions
- Influencer/UGC/affiliate: Light templates and creative direction for UGC, paid partnerships, and creator toolkits
- Organic social: Evergreen and campaign assets aligned to brand and channel priorities
- Ensure quality, cohesion, and brand consistency across all digital workstreams and touchpoints.
- Direct the creation and adaptation of assets for responsive, mobile-first design, and performance optimization.
- Oversee creative timelines and workflows in collaboration with project management.
Inspire and Guide the Creative Team
- Mentor and manage junior and mid-level designers, freelancers, or agency partners as needed.
- Provide input on production timelines and budgets for 360 omnichannel campaigns
- Provide clear, actionable feedback and creative direction throughout the concept-to-launch process.
- Foster a culture of excellence, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally
- Partner with fellow creative leads for brand, packaging,visual merchandising and content production leads to ensure holistic storytelling across the consumer journey.
- Work closely with the brand marketing leader and commercial stakeholders across digital (growth, email/CRM, ecomm) and wholesale (Amazon, Sephora) to align on goals and deliverables.
- Confidently present work to stakeholders and executive teams, making the case for creative decisions grounded in both strategy and craft.
- 10+ years of experience in digital design or art direction, preferably in a high-growth brand or creative agency environment.
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong conceptual thinking and polished execution across digital advertising, ecommerce, social, and email.
- Fluency in designing for performance and platform—understanding how to adapt creative based on KPIs, testing insights, and audience behavior.
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and digital production tools.
- Strong typographic, layout, and storytelling skills across static and motion formats.
- Experience leading creative projects and directing external partners, shoots, or motion work.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to balance speed, consistency, and craft.
- Strong communication skills—you know how to champion creative ideas while being collaborative and receptive to feedback.
- A proactive, self-directed approach and a comfort with ambiguity and fast-moving priorities.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with or designing for e-commerce platforms like Shopify, Amazon Vendor Central, and/or Sephora PDPs.
- Motion design, animation, or light video editing skills.
- Familiarity with A/B testing, creative analytics, or performance marketing workflows.
- Experience in beauty, wellness, lifestyle, or other consumer brand categories.
