[solidcore] is looking for a Director of Accounting to join our HQ team. Our ideal Director of Accounting is an experienced accounting professional and CPA with deep technical expertise and with multi-location retail experience who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting our continued expansion across multiple markets, including international.
This role would be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, leading month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring GAAP compliance across our complex corporate structure, overseeing the annual financial statement audits, and managing key accounting functions. The Director will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives and operational excellence.
Located in Arlington, Virginia and reporting to the VP Accounting & Controller, this is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing, investor-backed organization with a desire to be the leader in the studio fitness space.
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and account reconciliations across multiple entities and locations
- Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering professional development and operational excellence
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and corporate policies across all accounting functions
- Collaborate with FP&A team on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business decision-making
- Lead special projects including system implementations, process improvements, acquisition accounting, international accounting, and new business ventures
- Partner with operations teams on new studio openings and accounting setup requirements
- Lead the annual audit processes with big four external auditors
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA license
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly revenue recognition (ASC 606) and lease accounting (ASC 842)
- Proven track record of leading month-end close processes and managing tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software and systems including Alteryx
- Must be local to the Arlington/DMV area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-location retail, or membership-based business experience
- NetSuite and Workday experience
- Public accounting experience
- Experience in fitness, wellness, consumer services, restaurant or brick-and-mortar retail industry
- Private equity or investor-backed company experience
- Experience with complex corporate structures and intercompany accounting
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting requirements
- Project management experience with system implementations or process improvements
