About the Role

The EHS Specialist is a crucial role focused on ensuring safety, compliance, and continuous improvement in logistics and operations. This professional monitors safety metrics, leads training initiatives, and supports the implementation of safety practices across multiple sites. They conduct regular assessments, advise on incident reports, and maintain safety documentation while staying current with relevant regulations. The role requires extensive safety experience, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of logistics operations and safety regulations. The position involves frequent travel to various fulfillment and distribution centers, requiring adaptability to different work environments and physical demands.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor safety metrics, input incidents into dashboards, and prepare reports for senior management on key issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives through conducting compliance training and embedding safety practices across logistics and operations teams.
  • Support the EHS manager in enhancing and implementing safety practices and procedures. Ensure consistent policy communication across all sites.
  • Ensure logistics operations comply with local, national, and international safety standards.
  • Advise on the incident reports completed by the logistics and operations teams. Recommend corrective actions for accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
  • Conduct regular site assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company policies, addressing any discrepancies and recommend corrective measures.
  • Organize and support safety committee meetings. Guide discussions with the operations & logistics team to ensure actionable outcomes.
  • Maintain safety documentation, including updating SDS manuals and the OSHA 300 log for all sites.
  • Stay current with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and related governmental codes and regulations.
  • Support EHS Manager with all other safety-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive safety experience.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification required; OSHA 30-hour preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge of PIT operations (required).
  • Solid understanding of logistics operations, safety regulations, and risk management principles.
  • Valid California driver’s license required.
  • Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions (e.g., parking lot) and with exposure to low temperatures (Freezer, Cooler, etc.)
  • Able to regularly bend, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Able to travel 25-40% to regional fulfillment centers and distribution centers across US

Compensation Range

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is $79,000 - $93,000
  • This role may be eligible to discretionary bonus, incentives and benefits
  • Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location
