The Role:

The Plant Sanitation Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant sanitation, including the development and execution of strategic programs to ensure optimal cleanliness and hygiene across the entire facility and campus. This role is crucial in upholding food safety standards by creating and implementing robust policies and comprehensive training programs for food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement site GMPs.

What you will accomplish:

  • Build and maintain the facility's Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Develop, validate, and implement effective sanitation practices.
  • Train sanitation and plant employees to achieve and maintain sanitation objectives.
  • Maintain chemical inventory quantities; order chemical and cleaning supplies as needed, and work with the chemical supplier for advice on training or issues related to sanitation.
  • Manage the Facilities Sanitation Team and Contracted Pest Control Operator.
  • Assist with the development of site GMPs.
  • Explain GMPs, hazards and safety measures to employees and monitor compliance.
  • Provide support by training, troubleshooting, and some maintenance, to the production sanitation systems, equipment, and tools.
  • Collaborate with site Microbiologists and operations teams for improvements in GMPs, cleaning and sanitation methods.

What we would like you to have:

  • Experience in an FDA-regulated industry (ideally infant formula); minimum 5+ years in a manufacturing plant environment required.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of USDA Organic certification requirements.
  • BSc Degree in Food Science, Sanitation, Food Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related technical field of study in the applied sciences.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of GMP, SQF audits, FDA, PMO, HACCP, and OSHA requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of sanitation, HACCP, microbiology, pest control, and quality systems.
  • Familiar with the theory and application of clean in place (CIP), clean out of place (COP), cleaning turbulence, temperature, timing, and chemical concentration.
  • Knowledge and experience with dry clean processes (e.g., chemical, heat).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to break a complex task down into discrete tasks that can be comprehended by a wide range of employees.
  • Proven problem-solving skills that lead to recommending and implementing solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply risk management principles that support both internal and external customer requirements.

Compensation:

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry. The salary for this position is $95,000 annually.
